The Common Process

  • You can tell us about your work. What it is, who it is for, what you are most proud of and what you are still figuring out. We ask questions. We are genuinely curious.

    This call is recorded.

Occasionally, with your permission, moments from it find their way into the film as B-roll… the unguarded, natural version of you talking about something you care about is often the most compelling footage we capture.

    Around 45 minutes.
    No preparation needed.

  • 50% upfront. 50% before final delivery

  • Before any cameras come out, Sophie has a relaxed off-camera conversation with everyone who will be involved in filming. No recording, no pressure just a chance to talk through what you want to say, what you are not sure how to say, and what feels most true about your work.

This is the step that makes filming day feel easy. By the time we arrive with a camera, you have already found the real story. You are not performing. You are just saying what you already know.

One call per person involved. Arranged at a time that suits you.

  • One of the things that makes a Common Field film different is the voice of someone who has experienced your work directly (not a paid employee but someone your organisation has genuinely affected.)

We arrange and conduct this conversation ourselves. We find the right person with your help, we speak to them, and their attendance and participation is always covered by us.

You do not need to manage this.

    We do.

We handle the arrangement, the conversation and the care.

  • We ask you to read through your AI policy and make sure it is published and up to date on your website, in line with our standard. If you do not have one yet, we will show you exactly what it needs to include…it does not need to be long or complicated. This is one of the three commitments that makes you eligible for the Common Field stamp, and we want it ticked before we arrive.

We send you a simple checklist. Most organisations have this done within a week.

  • We come to you. We have budgeted £1,500 within the cost of your project specifically for venue and lighting because some spaces film beautifully and some need a little help, and we never want the quality of your story to be limited by a tricky office or difficult natural light. We use this to make sure wherever we film looks as good as it should.

The day itself is calm. We move at a pace that feels comfortable. We ask you questions. We let you answer them. We do not rush the moments that matter.

One day. We handle the logistics.

  • We take everything we have filmed and shape it into your story (built through our narrative arc, with the real moments kept in and the polished performance kept out.) You will see the film before it is finished and have two full rounds of edits to make sure it feels right.

We can also cut personal versions for you and any colleagues who appeared on screen for an additional cost. These short edits are sized for LinkedIn and social channels, so the people who made the work possible can share it in their own voice.

    Two rounds of edits included.

  • You receive the finished film. We check that all three of the Common Field commitments have been met (the human voice, the AI policy, the commitment to annual honest accounting) and when they have, we award you the Common Field stamp and add you to the public register.

The stamp is yours to carry on your content, your website, and anywhere your story lives. It tells anyone who sees it: this was made honestly. The people are real. The story is true.

Note the stamp can only be applied to organisations.

The film is delivered. The mark is awarded. The register is updated.
